The role of conditioner in pellet feed processing

Conditioning is the process of hydrothermal treatment of powdered materials before pelletizing of pellet feed, is one of the important factors affecting the quality of pellet feed, accounting for about 20% in the overall quality of pellet feed. With the improvement of market requirements for the quality of pellet feed machine, feed processing enterprises pay more and more attention to the tempering process in feed processing. Powdered materials can be cooked by conditioning. Most animals have a low capacity to digest starch, but they can digest mature starch to a large extent. Starch pasteability is greatly increased under the action of conditioner hydrothermal. It also promotes thermal denaturation of the proteins in the material. The denatured proteins are easily hydrolyzed by enzymes, improving the digestibility of the pellet feed. Powdered materials can be sterilized by conditioning. Most pathogenic bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella are not heat resistant. Conditioning the material at a certain temperature kills these pathogens and ensures feed hygiene levels. This method has the advantages of low cost, no pollution, no drug residue and no side effects compared with drug prevention.

Conditioner can significantly improve the water resistance of pellet feed. In the conditioning process, through the hydrothermal effect of steam, the viscous components such as dextrinized starch and denatured protein in the material of pellet feed machine can give full play to the role of binder, and can effectively bond the other components around. Under the extrusion effect of ring mold and pressure roller, the particles combine more closely with each other, making the pellet feed denser and cleaner, which is not easily eroded by water in the feeding process, thus increasing the stability in water.

Conditioner can improve the pelletizing effect of the material, increase the output, save energy consumption, and improve the service life of the ring die and pressure roller of the pelletizing machine. Conditioning allows the material to soften and increase plasticity. The friction with the hole wall, the inner wall of the ring die and the outer part of the roller during extrusion is reduced, avoiding the conversion of a large amount of mechanical energy into heat energy in the pelleting process and reducing the wear and tear of the ring die and the roller.
